Assessment without Levels - The Brunts Academy

Assessment without Levels

Rationale

The DFE announced in 2014 that children will no longer be assessed using National Curriculum levels and have given schools the autonomy to devise their own assessment models.

Current Grade

From 2016 students in Y7 will be assessed against age related expectations (ARE). Students will be tracked against the below subject specific Transition Stages.

Year 7 students will be set targets in all subject areas based on their KS2 National Curriculum results. For non-core subjects this will be based their average KS2 level in English and Mathematics.

Satisfactory Working closely towards target
Less than expected Working below target
Significantly less than expected Working well below target

This information will be reported to parents/carers three times per year (once per term). This system is being trialled until the end of the academic year at which point a full review will be undertaken and any appropriate changes may be made.
