SMSC Education at the Brunts Academy

1. Introduction

The Brunts Academy recognises that the spiritual, moral, social and cultural element of students’ education is crucial to their development as an individual, allowing them to take their rightful place in the community as local, national and global citizens.

Academy life centres around five core values of Ambition, Integrity, Endeavour, Inclusivity and Resilience. As SMSC is about the principles and beliefs that students hold and their attitude towards learning, knowledge and society, we believe that these values support SMSC education in a number of ways:

AMBITION: enables our students to develop an appreciation of human achievements and aspirations that can then inspire them to be successful individuals.

INTEGRITY: encourages our students to develop moral values that supports them in becoming sincere, reliable and trustworthy members of a democratic society.

INCLUSIVITY: assists our students in developing a stronger sense of community through improving their knowledge, understanding and respect for all people irrespective of their religion, beliefs or way of life.

ENDEAVOUR: supports our students in fostering at attitude towards their learning which focuses on the importance of preparation in securing future successes.

RESILIENCE: allows our students to gain an appreciation of the human spirit and its importance in successfully taking on new challenges.
